New Trackstar Pieces

Trackstar approached me to do a few things for them, and here's a couple. The Faster, faster, faster quote is actually from Hunter S. Thompson (for the record).

Fishtank to Pomeranian Display

I had purchased this fishtank a while back that came with a "Saltwater for Dummies" book (I love that, I think it's funny and it definitely came in handy as I knew zero people who were salt water enthusiasts).

I had a "fish only" tank going for a while, took it down because I was back and forth with San Francisco a lot at the time, then decided to start it up again as a coral reef set up. Actually, let me rephrase that thought. I recall wanting to put only "one clown fish" in there and leave it at that. Next thing you know I'm going full blast, as fast as possible with it. I had a range of creatures in there, basically as many as I could cram in there - swimming fish, various crabs, bottom dwellers, at least three different types of shrimps (some that were tiny tiny and only found upon close inspection).

It was like crack (not that I've tried crack) - but I was riding my bike with bags of fish stuffed in various interior jacket pockets on a weekly basis. Eventually I got frustrated with the time and money I had to put into it and called it quits (side-note: The largest part of my frustration was with this long haired algae problem - which was because I wasn't running what's called a "refuge tank" that connects to this main tank).

I do miss it but I enjoy being able to pick and travel when I want. I now have a very nice Pomeranian Display for my pup, Bentley. (Extra, extra side-note: Indeed he's comfortable pretty much anywhere I put him, but he was only actually in the tank for about 3 minutes =).

Messin' Around

I had zero intention of doing anything with this clip because I know I can do something better. It was my first time skating this spot, breaking the old winter legs in, getting exercise the old fashion way, and didn't pull what I was going for. I got my hands on the clip and figured "why not."

Chari & Co Special Thanks Mug.

Mr. Yuki stopped by to drop this off...

I was happy to help out with this project - a run of 60 limited tea mugs are being given to various companies and individuals who have supported lower east side bicycle boutique, Chari & Co.

Baked in an oven (in and out several times) this very traditional hand-made Zuikou mug retails at a whopping $300 per! It took a few runs of attempts before the final came out and hundreds of pieces were broken until the final 60 were produced.

A huge recognition to Chari for bringing a project like this into fruition. I was delighted to lay it out with a new rebranded logo I created for them, be included as a part of it (my logo is on it), and see the final product come to life. Cheers Chari!

Random Recents

So I don't "blog" too often, this serves more as a "news" feed; I thought I'd post some random photos from the past few months though - and will try to do this more often, so please check back.

Recent transplant to the East coast.

My artist friend Izumi working in my apartment on a drawing...

and one of the aforementioned drawings.

Eran from Amran Packaging stopped by because we are working on some shopping bags. It's been several years since we met when I made an earlier Undefeated bag. This time it's for a another client...

In Loving Memory Of.

This summer I experienced the huge loss of my cousin Clinton Corey Miceli. He was riding his bike to his new day job as an art director (during "bike to work week") when someone unexpectedly opened their car door sending him into traffic.

We Love You.

To all concerned: I am alive.

I've been quite busy. Here is a quick, partial rundown of what I've been up to.

Two branding jobs of mine went live on the internet this week..

http://www.apple.com/webapps/entertainment/outalot.html featured as a staff pick. I designed it from the ground up...

&

http://www.atlasskateboardstore.com

I created the brand identity and the official site launched this week. Arron Bleasdale of Ever Growing did a great job.

I received a package of clothing in the mail from DVSN this week for collaborating on this shirt (named "the Nishimoto tee" :) Everything fit great, looks great and the quality was top notch.

I will have some artist shirts coming out with sixpack. Check out their newly revamped site...

Also, a limited deck for FTC Tokyo will be dropping soon... soon to be posted on my site (as well as other new works, logos, etc.). So please check back.

Last but not least, I have switched to indy trucks for now. So far, so good.
